My Argentina: The Early Years

For decades, Third Culture Kid (TCK) Rita Koch reflected on her parents' missionary work in mid-20^th century Argentina. But when she inherited years of correspondence, photos and diaries, she discovered a narrative far more beautiful than her own childhood memories.

Two determined, young American missionaries arrived in Argentina. Learned Spanish from street vendors and parishioners. Shared the gospel in dusty plazas and cramped living rooms. Established churches in forgotten neighborhoods. And shared it all in their denomination's magazine, The Brethren Missionary Herald.

Growing up between cultures has its unique struggles, challenges and privileges. Rita values the education she received in the Argentine public school system, from fourth grade through high school and teacher training. Involvement in her parents' missionary work of evangelism and church planting was foundational. And she treasures the deep friendships made along the way.
