Beschreibung
An Affliction of Iniquity is a dark psychological horror novel following a man who receives a terminal diagnosis that abruptly fractures his understanding of reality, morality, and purpose. As the certainty of death closes in, his internal world begins to unravel, and his thoughts become increasingly consumed by sin, judgment, and divine will. What begins as existential fear gradually reshapes itself into a distorted sense of clarity, as he becomes convinced that his remaining time has been set aside for a higher purpose.
As his mental state deteriorates, he starts to interpret coincidence and inner compulsion as signs of divine instruction. The protagonist fixates on what he perceives as unmistakable moral corruption around him-individuals whose actions he believes place them beyond redemption. Driven by the belief that he has been chosen as an instrument of judgment, he begins to "cleanse" the world of those he deems irredeemable, framing his actions not as murder, but as acts of God carried out through human hands.
The novel builds toward an unsettling confrontation between faith, delusion, and responsibility, forcing the reader to question whether the protagonist is executing divine justice or simply surrendering to madness. An Affliction of Iniquity explores the terror of moral absolutism, the fragility of sanity in the face of mortality, and the danger of interpreting inner conviction as divine command, leaving unresolved where belief ends and atrocity begins.
