Just in the Neck of Time

Just in the Neck of Time is a Science Fiction thriller following the exploits of a Haredi Jew in the 24th Century. Yosef Gershom was born with a congenital agenesis of the anterior arch of his first cervical vertebrae. This particular malformation puts pressure on his spinal cord and causes a replication of nerve impulses equidistant in his two hands. He encounters alien societies in his exploits throughout space and is experimented on by a mad neurosurgeon in his youth. The neurosurgeon, Dr. Schwartz Dalleigh, takes him from the insular Haredi community in 24th century Palestisrael. He is investigated and infiltrated by the duplicitous 'Order of the Garnet Rose' where the secretive order takes control of his experiments in discovering 'ancestral memory.' This also allows the author to write visions of Jewish history and give historical clarification from the perspective of Yosef's ancestor. There are various intelligence agencies astride the Order of the Garnet Rose like the Martian Defense Force headed by Fleet Admiral Sanchez Halsey that war within the novel. Yosef also pursues a romantic relationship with an alien woman. There are various literary tropes that are employed to further the story and adventure his a high point of the story.
