Professor Chen-Ning Yang is best known for his achievements in Physics. He has also made significant contributions to the development of mathematics, as mathematics is extensively used in his research. In his long and fruitful academic career, he has witnessed many important events in the fields of Physics and Mathematics, and has collaborated or interacted with many great scientists in history. This book records eight interviews with Professor Chen-Ning Yang, which were conducted by the authors from 2016 to 2019.
Through Professor Yang's unique perspective, major scientific events in the 20th century were revisited vividly, elaborating the development and mutual influences of mathematics and physics, as well as unveiling the academic work, the daily lives, and the personalities of scientists, as well as their collaboration and competition, some stories unknown to the public before are also revealed in this book.

Ji Lizhen was born in Wenzhou, Zhejiang in 1964, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hangzhou University in 1984. In 1987, he received his MS from the University of California, San Diego. In 1991, he received his PhD from Northeastern University in the United States.He proceeded to do his research, first in Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then in Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. From 1995, he has been teaching at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Michigan, where he is now a tenured professor. He has won the Sloan Research Fellowship as well as the National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship.His main research directions are Lie groups, discrete subgroups and related spaces, such as symmetric spaces, which are symmetric phenomena in mathematics.Wang Liping graduated from the Department of Mathematics of Beijing Normal University in 1994, she received her MS from Beijing Normal University in 2006 and then entered the publishing industry. She has been engaged in publishing work in the academic publishing department of Higher Education Press for more than ten years. Since April 2019, she has entered the legal industry as a lawyer and focuses on legal work.
