Homography

Homography: mapping multiple perspectives of a single subject; words with the same form but different meanings (see gay, story); homosexual history approached through autobiography; projective transformation (from personal to political plane). Evans uses his own relationships—sexual and familial, chosen and biological—to explore queer heritage. In this collection you'll happen upon ancestors from antiquity to present day including Narcissus and Derek Jarman, as well as iconic venues like the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. There is imagery drawn from the natural world, and from to the underworlds of fetish and clubbing—a diversity echoed in forms concrete and classical. There is also shame, and there is trauma, but always leavened by fierce humour and hope for our future.
