Ionic channels are key signaling molecules that support electrical communication throughout the body. As such, these channels are a central focus of active research as it relates to neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computational biology, biophysics, and drug discovery. This book is developed based on materials from a popular course on Ionic Channels of Excitable Membranes at Johns Hopkins University by late Dr. David T. Yue. The book introduces the quantitative framework including key topics from biophysics, stochastic processes, and mathematical models used to understand ion channel function.
